I. 「as」的單字用法
- 作為… (介係詞 Preposition)
- 表示身分、職位或功能。
- 例句:She works as a waitress. (她的工作是作為一個服務生。)
- 用於比較;指稱程度 (副詞 Adverb)
- 常與另一個 as 搭配形成 “as… as…” (像…一樣…) 結構。
- 例句:I can’t run as fast as you. (我不能跑得像你一樣快。)
- 因為… (連接詞 Conjunction)
- 表示原因。
- 例句:As it was getting late, I decided to book into a hotel. (由於現在越來越晚了,我決定預約一家旅店。)
- 如同… (連接詞 Conjunction)
- 表示方式、情況與另一件事情相似。
- 例句:He got divorced, (just) as his parents had done years before. (他離婚了,就如同他雙親幾年前一樣。)
- 當…時候 (連接詞 Conjunction)
- 表示兩個動作或狀態同時發生,或一個動作伴隨另一個動作的變化。
- 例句:He gets more attractive as he gets older. (當他變老時顯得更有魅力。)
- 雖然 (連接詞 Conjunction) = Although
- 用於倒裝句結構,表示讓步,通常將形容詞或副詞提前。
- 例句:Angry as he was, he couldn’t help smiling. (雖然他很生氣但他還是忍不住地笑了。)
II. 「as」所組成的常見連接詞/片語
As long as 只要… / 長達…
- 表示條件 (只要在一段時間內…就會… / 只要達成某件事…就可以):
- 例句:I’ll remember you as long as I live. (只要我還活著,我就會一直記得你。)
- 例句:We can play, as long as it doesn’t rain. (只要不下雨, 我們就能玩。)
- 表示時間長度 (長達…):
- 例句:The conference could be as long as four hours. (這個研討會根本就會長達四小時。)
- 表示條件 (只要在一段時間內…就會… / 只要達成某件事…就可以):
As soon as 一…就…
- 連接兩個發生時間點相同或相近的事件。
- 例句:I’ll tell him as soon as I see him. (我一見到他就告訴他。)
As well as (conj.) 也;又
- 表示「除了…還有…」或「不但…也…」。
- 例句:She is a talented musician as well as being a photographer. (她不但是攝影師還是個很有才華的音樂家。)
As far as (conj.) 達到…的程度;就…而言
- 通常與動詞 “know,” “see,” “tell,” “concern” 等搭配。
- 例句:As far as I can know, this is the best choice we have now. (這是目前就我所知道我們最好的選擇。)
