1. 只接 to + V 的動詞

2. 只接 V-ing 的動詞

A. 享受、喜好類

  • can’t bear (無法忍受) - She can’t bear watching horror films.

B. 完成、持續類

  • finish (完成) - She finished writing the report.
  • complete (完成) - We completed processing the order.
  • keep (持續) - Keep trying!
  • keep on (繼續) - He kept on talking.

  • stop (停止) - He stopped smoking.

C. 避免、延遲類

D. 考慮、建議類

  • consider (考慮) - We’re considering hiring new staff.

  • contemplate (考慮) - She’s contemplating changing careers.

  • suggest (建議) - I suggest taking a break.

  • recommend (推薦) - I recommend reading this book.

  • propose (提議) - He proposed moving to a new office.

  • advise (建議) - I advise waiting a bit longer.(= I advise you to wait a bit longer.

    原因:advise 可以用 V-ing 或者 advise + 人 + to do,但唔可以直接 “advise to do”。

E. 承認、否認類

  • admit (承認) - She admitted making an error.
  • deny (否認) - He denied stealing the money.
  • confess (坦白) - He confessed taking the money.
  • acknowledge (承認) - She acknowledged being wrong.

F. 介意、冒險類

  • mind (介意) - Do you mind waiting?
  • risk (冒險) - Don’t risk losing your job.
  • resent (憤恨) - I resent having to work late.
  • resist (抵抗) - I couldn’t resist buying it.

G. 練習、經驗類

4. 兩者都可以,但意思不同 ⚠️

remember

  • remember to do (記得要做,未做) - Remember to call him tomorrow.
  • remember doing (記得做過,已做) - I remember calling him yesterday.

forget

  • forget to do (忘記要做,未做) - Don’t forget to lock the door.
  • forget doing (忘記做過,已做) - I forgot locking the door.

regret

  • regret to do (遺憾要做,正式通知) - I regret to inform you that…
  • regret doing (後悔做過) - I regret saying that.

stop

  • stop to do (停下來去做另一件事) - He stopped to rest.
  • stop doing (停止正在做的事) - He stopped working.

try

  • try to do (努力嘗試) - I tried to open the door.
  • try doing (試試看某方法) - Try using this key.

go on

  • go on to do (接著做另一件事) - He went on to become a doctor.
  • go on doing (繼續做同一件事) - He went on talking for hours.

mean

  • mean to do (意圖做/打算做) - I mean to help you.
  • mean doing (意味著) - This means working late.

5. 介系詞 + V-ing(必考重點)

  • be used to doing (習慣於) - I’m used to working long hours.

    used to do (過去常常做,但現在已經不做了) -I used to smoke, but I quit last year.

6. 特殊結構

  • I saw him leave. (看到整個動作)
  • I saw him leaving. (看到動作進行中)
  • 被動語態要加 to:He was seen to leave.

使役動詞 + 受詞 + 原形V

make, let, have

  • My boss made me work overtime.
  • Let me help you.
  • I’ll have someone fix it.

但 get 要加 to:

  • I got him to help me.

help 的特殊用法

  • Can you help me (to) carry this? (加不加 to 都可以)

need/want/require 的被動用法

  • The car needs washing. = The car needs to be washed.
  • The report wants checking. = The report wants to be checked.

worth / worthwhile

  • This book is worth reading. (只能用 V-ing)
  • It’s worthwhile reading / to read this book. (兩者都可)

busy

  • I’m busy preparing for the meeting. (只能用 V-ing)

spend / waste + time/money + V-ing

  • I spent two hours studying.
  • Don’t waste time worrying.

have difficulty/trouble/problem + V-ing

  • I have difficulty understanding him.
  • She has trouble sleeping.

It’s no use / It’s no good / There’s no point + V-ing

  • It’s no use crying over spilt milk.
  • There’s no point arguing.

had better / would rather + 原形V

  • You had better leave now. (不加 to)
